What is the latest information regarding the 2002 Explorer rear window recall of which I received a notice three months ago...it stated that in late November I'd be notified to take in the vehicle for work on the rear window and to not use the window until it was fixed. My dealer is clueless as to the current status of this situation. Anybody out there receive a notification that parts are in and ready to be installed on your vehicle? Thanks...
Call your local dealer and set up a time to have it done. They will have to order the parts, and I don't know how long it will take to get them. I set it up on my 2003 last week when I had the oil changed.
On a similar note, I've had the rubber bumpers that go on the lift gate at the top of the window on each side, replaced 4 or 5 times and now they're gone again. Does anyone have an explorer that these are staying on? If you open the rear window and look at the top corners there should be two black rubber cylinders approximately 3/4 inch in diameter. If they are missing, there will be two holes approximately 3/16 inch in diameter.
I have read the the recall(dealer version) and the plastic applique is not covered if cracked even because it's "not related".
My bracket on the left side swivelled and I fixxed it per TSB. But when the glass came down on bracket applique cracked I saw it. Dealer said we needed a new lift glass to the tune of $1200 which is why I fixxed it myself.
I'm using the heck out of the lift glass until I take it in, in hopes....
I called Ford dealer today and was told Ford is wery slow in getting the kits out to the dealres, he expects to see some in the next couple of weeks. He put me on the waiting list and will call when the kit is available. I was told there are two different kits, one for the window with the buttons through the glass and the other is glued on. When / if I here more I'll post the info.
The rubber bumpers fall off on mine when I am waxing/polishing it...I have been lucky enough to notice it before they rolled away too far and they pop right back in.
