Ok, my truck was in the shop about a week ago due to a no-start problem.
After getting it back, I noticed that CEL came on still. Truck idles smooth and runs well, but I wanted to see the codes. So, I pop the hood, walk over to the STI plug just to see that it's not there anymore! I noticed a different plug that had a plastic cover on it. I removed the cover, but this plug has 2 pins. I'll post pics as soon as I can.
Questions...
Does Low coolant or dirty coolant affect engine performance? What about the PCV valve? Also, when putting in a k&n filter, I noticed that there's no smaller filter in the air box. There's suppose to be one in there right? Is it called the Breather filter?
Low coolant might have some effect; dirty coolant shouldn't unless water passages are plugging up. PCV valve might, but not really sure, and yes, there is supposed to be a breather filter in the air box underneath the main air filter. Don't know if any of these things would affect gas mileage much if any.
The test connector is "plugged in" under the cap that says "EEC Self Test". I know it is in there, because I can see the locking tab that is holding in place in your picture. I think the two wire connector you pictured is for the Rear Antilock Brake test connector. The EEC Self test connector is shaped like a "D" and has 4 contacts in it. Gently pry back the lock tab against the the cap and pull down on the connector. Also the picture of "new" thing is the ignition coil.
