Question charging problems Help Please!

I have a 67 f100 but the motor is a 74 302 I cannot get the battery to charge. The alt is good, I just got a new volt. regulator, and the batt is good. Oh and it also drains the batt. very quick when I turn the headlights on. Does anyone have an instrument cluster diagram ? I am also wondering if it might be in the ignition? I am pretty sure that the alt is wired right. This is driving me crazy!! Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions ?

Charging

Steph55,check the FTE store for wiring diagrams for your truck.I would follow the wires from the alternator and make sure there are no breaks or shorts first. There should be a wire going to the positive side of the starter sylenoid from the alternator circuit, take it off and check to see if it has 12 or more volts to it with the engine running. If not you might have a bad regulator or alternator. Also check the battery cables for corrosion and possibly a bad ground connection. That's all I got, good luck.

I have the diagrams on my computer here at work. If you want to email me at the following address:

mlh(at)azdeq.gov REPLACE the at with the at sign.

I will send a copy of the underhood wiring diagram back.
