For those of you who eat bacon, how do you cook it? Microwave, or frying pan? I prefer mine to be cooked in the microwave, because it gets crispy without getting burned.
Mmmmm.... bacon. Fry it up in a pan and use a little hot grease to melt the butter on your BLT. Oh yeah, when we are camping we put a pound or two in the pan and just stir it. Just because it's not perfectly flat and straight doesn't mean it doesn't taste just as good!
Large baking pan, put the whole package in on top of a sheet of allum foil, broil it, turn once. Do a whole package, no stove top mess, cooks quite well.
Microwave it on a special serrated plate under a paper towel until it starts to sizzle. Then toss it into a skillet for the final browning. That way it doesn't splatter in a sea of grease and the bacon comes out balanced perfectly between too limp and crispy critter.
I did bacon in a skillet for decades, but arrived at this method last year. Usually the skillet method yielded bacon that was too crisp in the middle and insufficiently cooked at the ends. Now I can barely keep up with the family as they ****** the bacon off the plate as fast as I cook it.
"Never fry bacon without a shirt on" - good advice.
Pan-fried til it's just starting to turn crispy, then set on paper towels to drain, and patted dry. Tried the microwave thing for a while, never liked it. To me, the microwave seems to kill some of the flavor of most thimgs cooked in it, I just use it to heat stuff up, like canned goods, or to defrost, or to make popcorn. -TD
