Compression testers are hardly rocket science items. It is a pressure gauge with a one way valve to hold max pressure and a pressure release to reset it.Accuracy is not a big deal as most compression specs are pretty broad. Most of the time you are comparing one cylinder to another or to a previous reading. The important part of these testers is the adapters to thread into the spark plug hole. Don't get one of the testers where you have to hold a rubber plug against the hole to get the reading. The ones I like the best have a quick release fitting between the adapter and the gauge so I don't have to struggle with twisting the whole assembly to thread it into the spark plug hole. The one I have is a Craftsman but it is 25 years old, not sure if Craftsman is still any good for these.

I have a quick-release model described above. Seems to work well. I bought it many years ago at either Pep Boys or Sears.
