pressure relief??
i was reading a thread about a stuck pressure relief valve. i might have that problem. when cold i have 70 psi (true reader guage) at idle as it warms i drop to near 0 psi. when i rev the motor it comes up to about 20-25 psi at 2500 rpm give or take a few. the motor is a 78 460 with a 120000 miles. any thoughts???

It sounds like bearings. I'm not familiar with the oiling system on the 385 series, I'm an FE enthusiast myself. But the usual suspects are cam, main, or rod bearings. I'd replace the main and rod bearings first to see if that fixes it, since the cam bearings are much harder to get to.
