hey I only usally pop on here when I have a problem with my expy and I remember two guys, one was BMXXL and another was Buzzard.. are they still around? they would answer any question on this board.. now if you scroll down there are so many 0 reply threads..
Big Matt is not really an active poster any more, although I think he still monitors the site from time to time. Buzz is still around and kicking. The problem is a lot of duplication in the questions, and people not searching. But we've got a great moderator, some new great people around, and the board is slowly recovering.
I find FTE to be cyclical. People come and a build a great core, then they go. Then another group comes...
When I Moderated the Super Duty forum, things were really hoppin', posts grew everyday and there were a core group of about 10-15 users who were on everyday. We all became very "tight". All I would call friends and some I've even met in person.
Now there is only about 3-4 left.
Yes, the same questions get asked over andover and the "old-timers" tend to get tired of it. We want people to search but we also want people to post. But there is only so much we can talk about with these trucks in actuality.
So is the cycle of online forums...
To be honest, I would answer more questions but my Ford CD manual doesn't cover the Expedition and I just haven't gotten off my butt to go and buy one that does. I hate seeing 0 replies. I feel it is a Moderator's job to make sure no post goes unanswered, even if I don't know the actual answer. Guess I gotta step up a little more.
Maybe I’ts just me, but it would seem that the forum used to contain more 'enthusiast' style questions but now it seems to be the bread and butter drivers who know little or nothing other than where the gas and keys go in.
I know this seems a bit harsh and over critical and I mean no offense to anyone. Further, I don't not want to imply that this forum should only cater to a certain minimum level of experience. For if it did, how would anyone learn? But again, the posts seem oh so blah.
So you feel your dealer screwed you. Gain some negotiation skills and work it out. This forum isn’t labeled Dale Carnegie or Zig Ziegler.
What type of tires, shocks, gas, oil, window cleaner...
It just seems the topics used to be more, well, technical.
If the regular people such as me didnt post thread blah threads, as you put it, then they really wouldnt be any point to this forum. When I joined this forum in 2002 I thought anybody could ask question, not just full fledged ASE technicians. I hope you dont upset adout this reply but, if spectators read those kind of replies then they will probaly not join this site for fear us getting bashed for posting "stupid questions". One way to learn is to ask questions.
I'm still around, but not nearly as much any more. I actually like to peruse the threads more than reply these days, plus I have diversified my interests as of late.
Some of the other guys have hit the nail on the head about redundancy.....I can only type, "yes, 285/75/16's will fit on a non-lls 4x4 Expy" so many times in a year.
I do miss Big Matt. It's hard to believe he's been AWOL for a year. Although, who knows, maybe he's been resurrected as another user???
Regardless, yes newer members need to continue with questions/discussions otherwise the forum would slowly fade away.
