Smoke

After starting my truck today in the fridgid weather we have here and driving it to the point of it being warm I noticed that I was getting a slight haze of smoke from the exhaust. I never would have noticed it if it were not for the street light in front of the house. I don't believe that it is steam and I also have realized that when I get on it a little bit that a big poof will come out but only for a second. I thought at first that it was just from the cold but it's never done this before even when it was colder than it is now. I guess it could be some bad fuel. The smoke is a white color which I always look at as a bad thing. Anyone know of what it could be on the simple end of the spectrum before I start having a come apart?

Mine does the same untill its fully warmed up. If your just crawling around town it can take a long time to come up to temp. If it bugs you put a winter front on it.

White smoke isn't bad, the engine is still cold and means you aren't getting complete combustion. It'll still do it even if the "gauge" on the dash says your engine is warm, but it isn't very accurate so I wouldn't trust it too much. It'll take a little driving time to get the engine to actual operating temp. You won't reach it with it just sitting there idling.
What year is your truck, and how many miles? As the engine gets older, it'll smoke a little more than when it was new. Mine has been kicking out a little bit of blue smoke on cold start ups, the lower injector o-rings are getting worn out, but it's not bad enough yet for me to go in an change them. They seal up once the engine is warm and it runs clean as can be, except for when my foot slips and the pedal falls to the floorboard, then I get all sorts of black smoke...

The truck is a 99 with 154k on it. I always notice the smoke on a cold start up but I had driven the truck from work to home and that is about 25 miles with 20 of it being highway.

Tonight I noticed that the smoke has gone down drastically. I also filled up today. I'm guessing it's probably the fuel I got.
