HI... like I said... Im new to trucks... But I want one. I just sold my car and I have 6k to spend. (I know its not a hole lot) but ya I was looking for a good truck. something that I could take off roading and have a lot of fun in, and still load it up with wood and dirt when I needed to. I was looking in these years... I like the style of these trucks. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on stuff like.
Your best bet would be to get a F-150 with either the 300 or the 351w in it and try to get a 95 or up if you want an auto transmission, because of all the upgrades Ford did on the E4OD's. You will definitely want to try to get a truck with a ZF 5 Speed if you can, that's only if you want a standard tranny though. Now you will notice I left out the 302, and that is because I feel the 302 is really a mustang engine and that only, it has a little torque, but nothing compared to the 300-inline 6. I have a 302 and I am wanting more power, probably my transmission is the cause of the 302 being alittle anemic. Zf 5 speed in any truck is kick a*$. You really can't wrong with a F-150 though in any of the years between 92-96 though .
I agree w/Jrock. In my experience, the F150 should be plenty of truck for you. I have an '87 F250 and it is more than I really needed. If I was able to be picky, I would have bought an f150 w/straight six. Good luck, hope you find the truck that is right for you.
I heard that if you load up the bed of a 150 it will buckle... is this true?
why do you say the 302 has less torque? I see the specs on the inline six as 145 horsepower 265 lb ft torque. With the 5.0 302 at 205 horsepower at 275 lb feet of torque... so it should perform better... unless I am mistaken?
for off roading is a 250 less likely to break than a 150?
