Heater hose valve

My 1965, 240 six has a valve in one of the heater hoses. It appears to be a manual shut-off valve. Is this standard equipment? Thanks.

Yes, It can be. It controls the flow to the heater core. You want it off in the summer and on in the winter when you need heat.

That was standard I think. There are three ***** in the cab that run heating system. One is supposed to open/close that valve. The second lets air in, the so-called "fresh air" heater. These first two hang down in the middle. The third is the defrost ****, up on the intrument cluster "row". It opens a plenum in the heater unit that directs the warmed air up to the defrost ports, by pulling it out. But it also turns on the heater fan, when turned.

The heater will give you some pretty decent heat by just turning on the water flow and opening up the air. More can be had by using the fan.

there were two heater options in 1965 the economy heater had the a valve that had to be adjusted under the hood. The other one was controled by a **** under the dash.

I am not certain about whether the fresh air heater (adjustible) was an option or not. My dad got my truck with NO options except a radio, and it has the ***** and adjustible valve. Maybe they made it a standard item somewhere during the year, or perhaps assemlby plants in some areas put them in routinely.

The heater options were std(no heat/temp ****/cables), Delux heater gave ya heater valve, cables and a better heater system overall IMO
