Possible fix for steering nibble!

Well, I just drove 2 different 05's (1 fx4 cc 4x4, 1 lariet cc 4x4)today. No nibble or vibration. Hmmm. I have a friend of mine that is a technician for a ford dealer. He was very familiar with the vibe and the nibble issues. Has had some problems with 04 but no 05. Said that the 05 has a differnt motor mount for vibration reasons. Hmmmm, might have something to do with it. As for the nibble, he has found that either the damper kit works or had had some where the rack and pinion unit was replaced and had good results. Just some possible things to throw out. I am no mechanic (just a Mechanical Engineer) and I am only transfering information. It did sound funny however that I havent driven a 05 with a vibe or nibble. I have driven more than 1 04 with it. Trying to figure out how many are affected since I will most likely be buying one in another month or so.

the one and only f-150 lariat '05 I drove as a loaner while my '04 was in the shop for the 6th time (still not fixed)...HAD THE NIBBLE/VIBRATION....it is not fixed, just the same as before either you get lucky and get a truck that does not have it or you get one that does...FORD has no clue. Kay

That is what is so weird
Either they have no clue as to why some do and some don't which doesn't say much for their engineering department
OR
They do know and figure it costs TOO MUCH to issue a recall so they stall as much as possible

We may never know for sure what is causing it...I just started the process to get my truck hopefully repurchased by Ford...hope I can find another ford truck that I like, even if i have to go back to an '03 model I think if they had a fix it would be done by now and they would not be making everyone jump through hoops! I just want this over so I can find something I enjoy driving..... hmmmmm wonder what that will be like

I had a vibration/shimmy problem that was tied to the tires I had on the front. If I'd rotate them to the back the truck was smooth. I took them to get rebalanced and the problem was still there, but it was better. The guy at the Goodyear shop suggested putting more air pressure in the tires. He said you can put up to 50 PSI in.

I put 45 PS in the front and left the backs at 35 becasue I wanted a little more grip on the rear because there's not a lot of weight back there as it is. Increasing the air pressure fixed my problem and the truck rides smooth again.

If you're having similar problems, this may work for you as well.
