glad to hear your stayin legal, you could get a high flow catco cat for 50 bucks if you wanted to.

cant remember how i got there, but the dmv website has a huge list for whats legal and whats not.

It's 1976 here in California. It also depends on what GVWR the vehicle is as well.

In California, 1981 F-100, and F-150's with the 300 I6 not only had Catalytic Converters, they had computers too.

1981 F-250's with the 300 I6 had cats but not the computers.

1981 F-350's, and up with 300 I6 were non catalyist or did not have cats or much smog at all.
