Ok, my 65 sb. cc. has the brake master cyl. upgrade w/ no power brakes, it has power steering. My question is disc. brakes up grade ! I have a doner 1974 long bed w/ power disc. brakes,it has a 360, C-6 trans. which i will use the C-6 to get rid of my crus-o-matic If you look at my pics. You will see what I have. I removed the [spindles], rotor's, brkts. por. valve, steer box w/ linkage, power boster w/ brkts. frame mounted brkts . Do I need any thing else ?? Pedal linkage ?? The donor, it's gotta go soon or my wife is going to have a baby if i don't get rid of it soon. Before it's gone do I need any thing else. I will do the fuel tank next in April or May . After that a 390 4v 10.5 comp. from a 68 murk will go in when rebuilt.
Nice looking truck Don. Hey pull your belt up another notch and tell the wife to leave tha truck alone if she don't want to have to sleep in it.
The master cylinders should be different between drum and disc. It is important to move the system over. You will need rear axles and drums from 68-72 to get the larger brakes on the rear again. Do you have a Bendix power steering in there now?
Have you pulled the two speed wiper motor/switch from the donor. You'll need that for delay wipers.
The 360 in the truck is a good donor engine to build into a 390 or 410
Wiper switch & motor is going to come off then. Rear end is out I'm going to put it in my 65 the tires rub the springs when in a hard turn & also it is not a 9" in it but it will be. This truck & the other 65 I have has the same rear axle in it. I also found out yesterday that the 9" is 31 spline that I removed from the donor & it has the good case so if I want to I could put in 4.56, or 4.88 gears with out grinding the rear bearing area for clearance, but I will only go as low as 4.10 I will keep a set up of 3.00 or 3.25 gears when going on long trips.
