I am looking for a tool box that FITS my truck. I got one from TSC for christmas but it was not wide enough. It only caught about an inch of the bed rail on each side, it looked kinda goofy. when I took it back i measured some of the boxes they had in stock a couple were a 1 1\2 wider but that would still be to short. Where can I get one that will fit the super dutys. Thanks.
I have a UWS single lid black toolbox that is 72" wide, that's what the owner of the place I bought it from recommended, I think UWS also makes some that are 69" wide if I remember correctly.
I think it covers over half of the bed rails on each side (truck's in our shop so I can't look at it right now).
I had a Husky toolbox in my last couple of trucks (they were GM). I went to transfer it to my F350 and it wasn't wide enough. Like you said, it barely had an inch on each side rail. I ended up getting a UWS toolbox. It seems to be very well made and it FITS very well.
You have to buy a box specifically for a Super Duty. I have an Owens, purchased from a local place. They told me the SD boxes are 3" wide than others. Mine is just over 1/2 way across the bedrails. Sounds alot like DCSpecials fit.
Tractor supply makes a box specifically for super duty, it will say it right on the tag. I got mine from them, but it was much more expensive than the other full size pickup boxes.
I had a Weather Guard put on for Christmas. It grabs about 3" on each side of the bed, but it doesn't stick out way past the cab, which I think looks better. The locks seem heavy duty, doesn't seem to leak, and looks great. I got it for $600 installed. It is black diamond plated. It was more expensive that some of the others, but I like it a lot better than the delta I had on a half ton. Good luck.
I also found out my local truck/trailer place has a list of boxes with slight deffects like dents and scratches. They are all fully usable, but are discounted. My dad is getting the same box I paid $600 for for $370. They had an inventory list of about 25 of these reduced boxes. Levi
Weatherguard is by far the best toolbox I have ever had. I currently have a full width aluminum diamond plate box that I am completely satisified with. No plictures in gallery as I have my sander mounted for the winter.
I have a "TruckTrunk" brand on mine. It is built at least as well as the UWS box I looked at, but has one unique feature that was a must have for me. It hangs on the bed rails (comes in two depths, I have 6" clearence under mine), but the lid opening (and lid) does NOT cover any part of the bed rails. This allows the stake pockets to still be available, as the lid totally fits between the bed rails, NOT overlapping it. All you need to do is notch out a 1" or so square area to reveal the stake pocket, and they are fully functional. Try that with any other brand of "hang-on-the-rail" box! It is also as low profile as you can get, only sticks up less the 1" above the bed rails. Makes for maximum clearence for handling a 5th wheel trailer on turns.
