AOD swap
I have an 85 F150 with a 351w and a C6 tranny. My friend has a 91 F150 nite that just quit on him, he said I can have his overdrive tranny and his transfer case. my tanny is fine I would just like to get better that 8 mpg, but I do need a transfer case mine makes a loud grinding noise while in 4wd. What I was wondering if both of these will just bolt up or if i need to do anything to it. if you could help me I would be thankfull.

Measure the overall length of what you have and what you want to put in. Measure from the front face of the bellhousing to each of these locations: rear yoke (center of u-joint caps); front yoke (center of caps); transmission mount holes in transmission extension (between trans & t-case). If there's more than an inch or 2 difference between the 2 assemblies, then you'll have some mods to make. You also have to find a place on your throttle to attach the AOD's TV (throttle valve) cable and you'll probably want to change out the shift indicator in your dash to one that has the OD position.
