Ok, Im thinking about doing this today...but im not sure how to tell how much water to put in without getting into the cats, if that will even harm it...which im sure it will, anways, any help would be appreciated, thanks
only thing you have to do is drive it around the block and get' em nice and hot and then take your waterhose and cool them off. it just breaks down the guts and makes them a little louder....
are they not loud enough? i just got done putting a dual exhaust kit on my 78 F-250 4x4 and it's way too loud( i like it but the law don't) my friend said he heard me 3 mins before i got there on a country backroad. tell me that ain't loud.

Yours is probably louder because u are running a v8 with dual exhaust. Ive got a 94 Ranger 3.0L with single glasspack lol. im thinking about hollowing my cats and putting a bigger tip on it, what do yall think of that?
oooh, ok i thought you had a half ton for some reason. Anyways if you take the truck and take a nice 15 minute drive and keep the rpms up and then the second you get out of the truck get the hose and make sure you got some really cold water and turn the hose full blast and let it run all over the glasspack. this will crack up the glass inside and you will blow the stuff out over a few miles and there you go. Straight pipe, just a tad quieter. Hope this helps. You should put a cam in that lil ranger and it'll sound MEAN!!! just my $0.02. I think it'd be cool to find a RV cam for that lil 3.0. it'd sound really cool.

one of my friends said that his dad would weld anything i brought to him for free, so i might get him to spin the glasspack around so ill have a "straight" pipe sound immediately, if that even works, i heard it does. also, im going to put a new tip on the end tomorrow as well, what is a good size to go up to from a 2" pipe?
Saurian, i bought a kit from JC Whitney (i know, but only cause i would have to have one fabbed up otherwise, also only place that had one for a decent price). It's 2 1/4" dual pipes from the manifolds. Good kit, i recomend it to anyone who needs a cheaper alternative for these old truck. easy to install it and everything. It runs into dual 2 1/4" in/out with a 3" body and 16" long. Both pipes exit on the passenger side. It took me about 3-4 hours to install with removal of the old system. It's loud too!!! If i go above 1800 rpm's or 35mph it's so loud that my grandmother heard me the other day when i fired it up and she was inside the house and i was out in the shop, and she heard it over the TV and it's a surround sound system. lol. I need some suggestions to quiet it down too. I gotta buy my cats for it though which i know will quiet it down a bit. but i was thinking resonator tips. I'm gonna see if i can have a shop install the cats for me and i'm gonna re-locate the exits of the pipes to a rear exit. I figure with the cats, rear exits, tips, and the kit i'll be about $450 which if you remember is still $300 cheaper than my quote to have it custom built. I'm happy with it. The original owner put a mild RV cam in it when it was tuned up last time. so it's got a throughty sound to it upon acceleration. Anyways i'm rambling on so i'll quit now.
I'm still trying to decide wheather or not to do the rear exit though. should i???? or should i leave it how it is? also i have no clearance issues with the system. i'm happy with it.
Can't say I didn't think about it. If I had though I wouldn't have gotten the tips that I did. I dunno..big tips out just one side would be weird to me..now both sides .
