I have an 82 F-100 too. From what I heard the difference is that it all comes down to the F-100 being a light duty truck and the suspension is different from the F-150. Also got a question for you. Does your F-100 have anti-sway bars?
The largest engine avalable in an 80-83 F100 was a 302, they were only avalable in 2wd, max GVWR was 4750 LBS, and, they did not have sway bars. From 80-82 at least, power brake equipped F100's have the 4.5 on 5 bolt pattern(I have seen 83's with the standard pattern) and use rotors, spindles(on some), rear drums, and axles that are specific to that application...
The cab on my F250 came off of my eventually to be resurrected 82 F100 Flare Side...

Like I said, 302 was the largest, the 3.8 and 255 were also avalable in 82-83.
