I was using my propane torch checking to see if I had a vacuum leak. I was directing the nozzle around the base of the carb and did not find any location that caused an increase in RPM. Good huh?
Well next, for the hell of it I directed the nozzle directly into the carb's intake expecting an increase in RPM. Get this, .... nothing happened. No popping, no increase in RPM, nothing. I don't get it. I thought that propane would cause an increase in RPM. What gives?
use an 18" length of 1/2 or 3/4 copper pipe, holding one end to your ear and sweep the other end around the engine; you'll be able to pinpoint the leak that way.
Propane is fairly low energy, especially in it's gaseous form and the amount coming from a torch wouldn't be enough to make a big difference. Try a spray can of quick start/ether or the tube.
