One thing you need to know is:
We do not owe you an answer!
You need to be courteous when asking a question!
We also need the info off the cover tag if you are still interested!
Steve G.
i apologize for my lack of courtesy 8 lugs. i appreciate the brisk humbling. the cover tag has at some point disappeared from the diff cover. any best guess would be much appreciated. thank you
unfortunately i am currently in iraq at a camp in baghdad and dont really have access to my truck. i was trying to find some parts to order so they would be there when i got home. thanks for any help you may provide
It PROBABLY has somewhere around a 3.08.
If you tell me whether it has overdrive or not, and it has a tach, and you can get someone at home to drive it at 60 mph, then tell me what rpm's it registers at 60, I can make a pretty good stab at it.
im confused srercrcr. i think i may have not made myself clear about what i was asking. for that i apologize again. i was looking for the model of axle the F150 with the 300CID straight 6. in case i do need the ratio though, it does not have over drive. the highest gear is 4th. at 60 MPH the tach reads about 2700. thank you for all your help.
It's probably an 8.8. Is that what you're asking? Ask them back home if it has a cover plate on the back that you can remove. I think it has 12 bolts holding it on, and it has a slightly rounded square shape. Hope that helps....
My calculations say 2650 rpm at 60 would be a 3.55 axle, with no OD.
That would be the 8.8 inch.
If a 9.0 inch, there's the 3.50.
This assumes standard tires...like a P235/75 or so.
Sorry for the confusion.
Attentiveness isn't my strong suit.
mtflat i proudly serve and appreciate your help. my wifes dad says that it is a "third member" would i be correct to assume that the differential does indeed remove from the front. thank you again for all your help
Sorry, but I can't say from that description. I've always interpreted the 'third member' to include the entire axle/differential as one unit. He'll probably think I'm stupid, but I just don't want to guess what he means by that.
Safest way is to indicate if the 10-12 bolts are on the front or rear of the housing.
