5.4 van missing

i am new to the forum so bear with me if i am making a few mistakes in posting.
my problem is with my 99 e150 van with the 5.4 engine.after driving about 500 or more miles it will start missing when accellerated in overdrive.i have changed plugs(napa double platnum)switched cops(used set)and problem hasn't changed.problem comes and goes.if it was a bad cop it seems as if it would stay or at least miss when engine is cold at some point.engine runs fine until on a long trip.it has done this about 4 times in the last year.engine light is on now but haven't had time to take it in for reading yet.truck has about 110000 miles on it.when it sits overnight it runs good again until next time.
thanks

Welcome. I would start by changing the fuel filter and cleaning the MAF. I also wonder if it is actually torque converter clutch chatter. Has the tranny fluid ever been changed or flushed?
