My driver's side door glass is out of my 48 F-3 which would be the same as your 51. As far as glass placement in the channel, I measure 3/8 of an inch of glass that extends past the forward edge of the channel and 1 1/16 inch extends past the rearward edge. The channel is mounted with the offset to the inside. As far as I know this is the original door glass. Hope this is what you are looking for...
