I have recently purchased a 1994 Ford f150 4x4 w/an E4OD trans. The Trans would jump every time it tried to go into second gear. Last week i removed a keyless entry, remote start up system and pulled the courtsy lamp fuse so they did not overheat. When i replaced the fuse the trans ran perfectly. About 2 days later it started jumping again. I pulled the courtest lamp fuse(which also conltrols the spedometor) and replaced it. Once again the trans ran like new.
How could i fix the trans permenetly with out having to pull the fuse every two days. I do not have a code reader and if anyone could recomend a decent one at a decent price it would be much appreciated. If anyone could also shed some light on my trans problem that would be great.
Thanks
Welcome to FTE. You can usually go to a place like Auto Zone and get the codes read for free. I think that pre 96 the code readers are vehicle specific. They are pretty cheap though, $20 to $30 I think. Is the speedometer working right? Is the fuse you are pulling bad, or are you just taking it out and putting it back in?
