03 or 04 engine
I couldn't find what I was looking for by searching. My dad and I both have 04 F350's. He got his in May of 04 and I got mine in June of 04. We noticed while looking at the engines that mine had different clamps on the large hoses going into the turbo and other locations. He has had the large hose come off his under load, and has a pretty bad oil spatter on his hood. I haven't had any of those problems. It is possible he has an 03 engine in an 04 body? Sorry I am so vague with the "hoses". I am learning about the diesel engines? We also noticed that mine sits a few inches higher than his. He has 16" wheels, and I have 18". To the top of the tire, his is higher, but tot he top of the tailgate mine is higher. Both have the 9900lb payload pkg. I cannot find the sticker on the passanger side valve cover that has build dates. I see numbers, but can't make out a date, does anyone have a picture of what it looks like so I can see what I am suposed to be looking for. Love the trucks, and love the site. Great info. Also, look at the truck build date. I don't believe that they put 03 engines in after Jan 1st of 04. the sticker u are looking for is BLUE and is back almost at the firewall. and have a Internatinal/NAVISTAR logo on it.

04 engines started after 9/30/03.
Ford made some changes in the intercooler clamps and hoses because some would blow off under high acceleration.
