I installed the Infinity speakers myself in the doors - EASY AS PIE! DONT FREAK OUT - Front speakers in the door - the panel pops out. Rear - door panel has to be removed - but it was pretty simple as well - JT.

The front install is easy, as jtrocks has said. Since these Kappas come with a crossover, I intend to pop open the arm rest, and put the crossover in there under the window switches. The arm rest just pops open no screws. The rears a little more work since the panel has to come off.

For us dummies, how does the front panel "just pop out"? Do you just yank on it?Pry with a screwdriver? How?I don`t want to mess up my door on a brand new truck.

Thanks,
Jim........

The front panel that covers the speaker, just use a flat blade screw driver and start at the top.

Talking

DONT BE CHICKEN!!! Go to Best Buy or whatever - buy your replacment speakers. The more expensive the better - you get what you pay for. While you are there, go to the install department. Tell them you need adapters for the stock speaker harness to fit the aftermarket speakers. This way you do not have to solder or anything...

Next, go home, pry with a scew driver on the front doors on the speaker grills. BE GENTLE - work your way in a circle around the panel until it all eventually "pops out". Unscrew the old speakers - unplug the harness from the speakers. Get your harness adapter - put it on the stock harness and then plug in your new speaker. Secure the speaker into the door with the screws you removed - reinstsall the speaker grill by snapping back in - POOF - DONE.

For the back door - a little trickier - bit FEAR NOT. First thing is to unsnap the piece of plastic above the door panel that is on the rear edge of the window. Just pull on it - it feels weird - but trust me - it is just snapped in and it will not break.

Next, undo the screws at the bottom of the door panel. Next, go to where the door handle is at. You will notice it has a "pry location" - get your screwdriver and pry that little piece of plastic off. Next, it will reveal two screws there - undo those. LIFT UP on the panel. There is one more screw to undo - it is where the window up and down switch is at. This just "pops out" as well. Pop out the switch - unwire the harness (it snaps in - fits one way - you cant mess it up) put it aside. You will see the final bolt you need to unsecure to get the door panel off. Once that is off - POOF. Same procedure to replace the speakers.

Is this clear as mud yet? I am really trying to help... I value my truck just as much as you guys and I was a little intimidated as well - but it wasnt that bad at all. If you are really against trying it yourself - take your $30,000 truck to the Best Buy and let some pimple face teenagers give it a go!!!! - JT.

Not to be obtuse, but…

Did I understand your description correctly, that to replace the front speakers, I only have to remove the colored grille on the door - I don't have to remove the entire door panel?

Jtrocks - thanks very much for your very thorough description. It is greatly appreciated.

That is correct, it's whjen you get to the back doors is when you need to remove the entire panel.
