i bought a 77 f250 recently,it was converted to a dual rear before i got it.how hard would it be to convert it back? is there a way without changing the whole rear?
dont know how it was converted untill i get to pull the wheels off and look.will the wheels sit really tight to the frame,i mean will it look funny that way? what if i use wider tires?
Im actually in the process of putting a Dana70 Dually axle under my 76 F250 4x4. My Dana60 went out and I got this Dana70 for free. Im just putting single wheels on the back. I measured and there is only 1/2 inch difference in width, the new Dana70 will be 1/2inch narrower.
Is there a difference in width from the dana60 to the dana70? Im not yet sure what rear I have, but I could definetly live with the 1/2 inch difference you have.
I have 2 dually 4x4 79's,and 1 was converted by previus owner using a D70 rear with the long as heck wheel stud's,and then they just slide a 1" spacer behind the wheel's,and all was good to go,and the other 79 dually 4x4 I converted using a Arrowcraft dually kit,and the wheel's actually stick out more then I like. But the adapter come's right off,and then a single wheel can go right back on.A D70 from a cube van or a mini bus will work for putting dually's on.Just have to move the spring perch's.The cube van,and mini bus has a wider frame this couseing the spring perch's not to line up with our older truck spring's.Ive done alot of tinkering with the dually's on a 78-9 F350 4x4's..
