My daughters 2001 Edge 4x4 has a very discernible low speed rumble, about 15-20mph. Seems to go away at higher speeds. Shift from drive to neutral, or use of 4WD has no apparent effect. Rumble is accentuated by low speed braking. Full brake job done about a year (12K) ago. Rotors and drums smooth. Pads fine. No obvious suspension looseness or issues.
My daughter recently bought more aggressive tires (Goodrich All Terrain T/A M&S 245LTs). Could these be the cause???
I suggested she find a friend with a Ranger/std tires and put those on...see if the rumble goes away. I would be more certain its the tires were it not for the rumble at low speed braking. This suggests (to me) suspension or maybe rotor issues.
98lt...don't think its the drivetrain...rumble is uneffected by shift in/out neutral at 20mph.
