Question 302 or 351W

I have a 1991 F150 4X4 and need to rebuild the stock 302, but i have found a 1977 van with a strong running 351W for $300.00. I have already scraped the fuel injection on the 302 and put a carb. in its place, trashed the AOD and replaced it with a C-6. I am thinking about buying the van and freshing up the motor with rings and bearings and droping it in, besides i have a 92 ranger with 170000 miles on it that i would like to swap a v-8 into one day, hopefully after i get the 4X4 running again. Tell me what you think, should i keep the 302 or swap for the 351.

If you have no smog requirements, then I say go for it. You may need a flexplate and/or flywheel, but someone else here will confirm that.

i should be able to use the flex plate from the doner, also while i have it all out i am going to have the trans rebuild or swap it out or something

Yeah the 91 302 uses a different balance flywheel/flexplate than the 351w.

I think you have a plan, stick that 351w in your truck and a ranger would make a good home for that 302.
