2004 Explorer Transmission

Hi, I just bought a 2004 Explorer, Eddie Bauer Edition and it has a reverse backing problem. Sometimes, when I put it in reverse, there is a delayed bump before it starts to back. Any comments? Thanks for your help!!

I have the exact same problem. It started happening after 7000 miles. I have no clue why.

Ford has issued a recall on 740,000-750,000 ford vehicles. It involves a transmission shift selinoid. Mine is going in on tuesday for that, and a bad abs sensor that is activating the four wheel drive.

I had the harsh/delayed shift into reverse at about 9,000 miles and I complained about it (before Ford issused any general notice about this). The dealer replaced the shift solenoid and updated the PCM (I love the software update - ALL shifts are MUCH smoother). Anyway, that was several months ago and I have been good so far - perfect shifts into reverse.
