I've decided not to swap my 300 over to 302. Instead I'm going to go through and clean everything up and replace all the gaskets and seals. So my question to all of you is what is the best way to clean up my eng? What type of cleaner works the best?
I should also let you know that I plan on repainting everything as well.
The best cleaner I have ever used is Easy-Off oven cleaner. Spray it on let it sit for a half an hour and rinse it off. It will even take the old paint off! Just make sure you don't get too much on your hands, it can burn.
Easy off works great. A parts washer is great too. I recommend a good urethane paint on the engine for oil/fuel resistance. It is costly so I would recommend going to a good paint supply (I like Sherwin Williams) dig through their mismatched paints and make a color that works for you. I pay $10.00 a gallon for the paint versus about $225.00 a gallon if I want it perfect.
