quick 302 distributor help

hey, i need to replace my pick up coil and i cant get my distributor apart. i have it all stripped but there is still this one metal piece that looks like it it is attached all the way down to the gear at the bottom. does anyody know how to get this thing off to get to the pick up coil?

Is it in or out of the engine? If it's still in it must be removed to get it the rest of the way apart.Theres two pins that have to be knocked out so you can pull the shaft out.
