Superchip VS. Diablo

Too many good guys that I respect their opinions on are on either side of this debate!
And so I surmise both must be excellent units !!!

The Predator programmer for the 6-oh came out first and I got it the first day it was available here and it has performed better than perfect for me...
They then did an even BETTER thing as far as I'm concerned -
they set up an online update process that is SUPER for the many changes they need to make to keep up with Ford's repeated attempts at resolving any computer issues on the trucks...
The Superchips was late to the party, but sometimes more time to "study" the situation is a good thing.... but you'll have to ask the guys that have them to see how they perform... I don't know if anyone has really tried both - or they've not posted their impressions for us to read... I do see issues with hard shifitng under certain conditions... but I'm not privy to that on either unit... I do know having to uninstall and send it back for updates for weeks at a time stops u from having use of it... but again - I don't have one so others will pipe in...
And since they are BOTH at thier lowest prices since release @ Motorhaven....
I'd get one quick.....
You won't believe the difference in your truck and will NEVER be able to go back to stock...
but - that's just IMHO

PSD 60L Fx4 has tried all the tuners and fueling boxes and recently posted a good summary. You can do a search for posts by him in the last two weeks and find his review.
I have the SCMT and have been quite pleased with it. I do realize that should I get my truck reflashed with a newer version of SW from Ford that I'll have to send my SCMT back for an update. The ability to update the tuner over the Internet would be nice, but not that big of a deal for me because the SCMT was great out of the box and hasn't needed an update since I purchased it.
Additionally, the guy who tunes the SCMT for Superchips spends some of his spare time here on this forum in an unoffical capacity. That's really been helpful.
Either way SCMT or Predator you'll be very pleased with the bang for the buck.
My truck has seen the SCMT 1704, the Edge Juice/Attitude, the Quad 125, the Predator, and an SCT custom dyno (not your normal off the shelf stuff, most people wouldn't be interested).
Out of all of them (excluding the SCT, which I won't count in this) the SCMT is by far the best shifting of ALL that I have seen. The line pressure is high, the shifts are short, crisp, and NON-defueled (which is more than can be said for the Predator and Edge box) and will absolutely not harm the transmission.
The Edge box barely shifts at all, and same with the Quadzilla. The Predator shifts "ok" but it is not a smooth shift by any means- IMO, it is rough, ill-timed, and too de-fueled for my taste.
Overall, I think the SCMT is the best off-the-shelf unit out there. The power is smooth, the shifting is crisp, and UNLIKE everything else I have tried, the pedal map is not changed (resulting in the feeling of more power, when none is really present- only makes for a jerky pedal.) I would put my money on the fact, that if identical trucks were lined up side-by-side with the different boxes and tuners, the SCMT-tuned truck's powertrain would far outlive the rest.
I have heard some decent things about the Banks setup, but with a total lack of transmission tuning I do question the reliability of the transmission, just as with the Edge box. I know how an untuned transmission feels with excess torque- if you want a comparison of shifting between the two, all I can say is...night and day.
I'm not sure if one word could properly compare the SCMT to the rest of the "tuning world", but if I had to venture to guess, I would say *refined*. The SCMT is truly a highly refined tune, and you WILL be happy with it if you get it, I am positive.
Give Motorhaven a call, you won't regret it.
PS- Take a wild guess where the base code for the transmission came from on the custom tune I am running now
