Can any one help with the correct wiring on a 55 with factory turn signals. I need a diagram (wire clours would be nice) for the wires from the switch to the flasher and lights.
Always thought turn signals weren't available from the factory until '56, but it sounds like they were available earlier. At any rate, I don't have a 55 shop manual, but here is the diagram from my 56 manual. Hope it is of some use.
My 53 f-250 had factory turn signals and I am having a nightmare trying to get them to work properly. Right now they work fine until I step on the brakes, once the brake lights come on the turn signal no longers flashes but stays on both front and rear for the direction I have signaled. Does the switch in at the top of the steering column control that or is there some where else I should be looking.
Bob, I had a simular problem on my 50. Make sure that the wire from the brake light switch runs back to the Turn Signal on the column. My Turn signal then turns on both Left and Right brake lights when you depress the brake pedal. This also requires a direct wire from the turn signal to each of the rear lights. Is that confusing enough yet???
I have scheduled some more quality time with my f-25 this weekend, that is if the temp is not too awful cold. I'll check to see where the wires are running, can't check anything right at this time though, generator is out getting re-worked to 12 volt. Thanks
thanks for the diagram it was a big help. it all woeks fine now the only other problem i had was crossed wires at the front left fender by a previous owner..
