1997 PS Hard Start
I have a 1997 PS crew cab 4x4. It has allways run great. I got 2 new bateries within the last 6 months. I is starting very 5{ like the batery is low, but its not. I also have to tap the acceleratoor to get it to fire.
It has allways started just fine , I keep new fuel filters in it and change the oil regularly. It is getting harder and harder to start. Advise?

I had a similar problem a year or so ago. My starter was on the way out and wouldn't crank the truck fast enough. If I understood your problem its cranking sluggish???

Our '97 CC had the starter go out at... gee, I can't remember, but it was something like 80K miles. The electrical connection to the solenoid on the starter was physically falling apart, and it behaved a lot like you're describing. I sure wish I could have replaced just the solenoid, 'cause those starters are expensive! The Pep Boys lady was shocked to see that the core charge was even higher than the starter price!
