down shift problem w/4r70W
happy new year everyone! I have a 03 screw with a 4.6 v-8. I have noticed that if you get on the brakes hard, but don't come to a complete stop and drive off, the transmission makes a load grinding noise for a few seconds.It's like the tranny is between 1st and 2nd. It doesn't happen all the time. I stopped by the ford dealer and spoke with the service manager and he told me that he has heard of the complaint from trucks with the 4.6 package. He said his personal truck does it and the tranny guy says it's the transmission not down shifting fast enough after braking hard. I know that this is not an isolated problem , because I drive ford trucks at work and have seen the same problem out of 2 trucks with the 4.6 engine(2000 & 2003 model).
Anyone else have this problem? If so , can it be fixed>? has ford regonized this problem?
