I'm thinking this is a short, but I thought I'd see what you guys thought...
When accellerating (hard, slow, normal, doesn't matter) the "Door Ajar" message illuminates on the dash and flickers a bit then goes out until the next time I accellerate. I've checked all the doors and that doesn't seem to be the problem. Any ideas?
I get it when i hit bumps. The rear door switch is in the latch, thats were I am going to start. Its Winter in pa, so if it dosent get too bad it will have to wait.
Most likely it is the side door. There are contact points between the door and the post. Those contacts can get corroded or dirty. Although it is more likely they get out of alignment. The roller on the bottom of the door wears and the door drops slightly and you get the alignment problem.
Search on the door roller. Someone had some success by pulling the contacts out and spinning them partly around and putting them back in. That is also an option. Let us know what you find.
Our problem is with the tailgate. When you push on it when it is closed the door ajar and interior lights come on. Pull on it slightly and they go out. I would just disconnect the switch but I don't know where it is.
It's in the latch mechanism itself. I think you can open the lift gate and there is a wire going to the mechanism. Try unplugging that wire or cleaning the whole thing. Do a search, someone did that a while back.
Take the rear cover off the door. There are two wires going to it. Unplug both and the light in the dash will go off. Also the rear light will stay off too.
I have yet to figure out how the thing works. Some knot head bumped me and it started doing the samething. I just unplugged it till I could get one from a wrecking yard.
When your driving and it comes on have someone sitting in the passenger seat grab the handle on the sliding door and pull it tighter close.
My wife's does the same thing. I reached around and pulled on the side door and it went out.
Dirty Contacts.

My 93 aero did that to, what I did is took back door panel off. Then with small light look into door and unplug the wire that goes to it.That cured all of my problems with door ajar light. mine was doing the same thing as yours.Kind of a pain to get in there to un hook but can be done with calm nerves and a 6 pack.
you can raise the contacts on the side door by sliding a small screwdriver under the contact and lifting them very slightly, I have done this on my van a few times, it works for a few months untill the contacts get squashed too flat again.
