I doubt you ever will find out an accurate count. . . . .
There is said to have been a fire in the archives of FoMoCo in the 70's. As the story goes most of that data was lost and I doubt there is an accurate number anywhere. It might be possible to scan insurance data bases or something, but not all F100s were
insured in the 60s so even that won't be accurate.
Along with production numbers, the option count numbers are gone. So a pure S/N is not going to do more than give a total for perhaps all F series trucks produced in a given year, but no "stats" as to SWB vs LWB, Flareside vs Styleside, CC vs Std Cab & how many were I-6, or V8 or A/T or 3 or 4 gear, or 4X2 or 4X4 and so on. I agree It's a shame, but that's just one of the problems with archiving hard copy data.
