I brought my truck to Rusty Eck Ford for warranty work on Monday. One of the items they are going to correct is the job they performed when they painted and installed my aftermarket hood. They are also going to paint the underside of the hood this time also (lol). I spoke with "Don" the manager of the body shop today and he explained how important customer satisfaction was to him/them and he also explained that it was going to be a fairly labor intensive task (especially removing the dynamat from the underside) but they will correct the situation this time. He said I may want to consider putting some red Line-X on the underside of the hood. What would work the best for cutting down engine noise, and preventing damage to my hood from intense heat? Insulation, High-Temperature paint, Dynamat Hoodliner, Line-X or something else? Thanks In Advance!

Good question. I don't think I would want something that is sprayed on. You'll never get it off if you don't like it. Some preformed insulation would be nice if you could find some to fit your hood. Or maybe you could get some loud exhaust and then you won't be bothered by engine noise. As for high heat damaging your hood, I would think the engine would have to almost be on fire to damage it. After all seems like fiberglass surfaces will eventully need to be painted after time anyways. No mater how well you take care of it. From sun and enviroment. At least all the fiber glass toppers I've had seem to have faded over the years. Just my two cents.

We re-line the inside of all our hoppers and fan chambers with Line-X and it is GOOD STUFF!!!!! It will stand up to the sand we run through and it does quiet the noise from the fan assembly considerably. As far as disapating heat, that may be another question, our fans don't generate much heat so I just wouldn't know for sure. And like tony said, if ya don't like it, tuff, you got it now lol.

Well, I went back to Rusty Eck Ford's Body shop again tonight and I spoke with Don. The repair to the drip rails on my trucks roof didn't turn out very well so my truck isn't leaving their shop. They are also sending my aftermarket hood out on Tuesday to be Line-X'd and when they get it back they are going to attempt to install the Street Scene mesh (Jon gave me) inside the ram air inlets and repaint my hood. He also said they are going to take care of my rental car bill. I must say I'm much happier with the customer service I'm receiving this time. I hope he has some good news for me on Wednesday.

That's cool. Glad your getting taken care of finally. I wish the body shop that did all the crappy work on my truck would fix it but they won't.
