I have a 96 F150 and Im installing some fog lights I bought. Im supposed to connect to a switched power source for either the headlights, parking lights, or something like that. I just spent about an hour and a half tryin to get to one of these wires up under the dash. Has anybody installed some lights and might know something that I dont know? Like how to get to the back of the fuse block or somewhere else I might be able to connect this? Or maybe how to get the dash apart to get to the back of the headlight switch? Any info that anyone might have would be helpful. Thanks.
Pull the headlight switch out, use a test light and find the parking light wire (usually brown). Find the same wire in the harness by the floor and tap it.
Ok...can I just pry the headlight switch out of the front of the dash or do I have to pull all that crap apart to get to it? I tried prying it out from the front earlier and did manage to gouge up the plastic a little bit. I didnt want to pry too hard in case it wasnt designed to come out that way.
That is for installing a tachometer, but it shows how to remove the black piece dash and the light switch. Once you are in the light switch wiring, look for the brown wire.
