zf 5 speed
New ZF 5 Speed Transmission Less Than 1500 Miles & Transfer Case, Out of 88 Ford F350 4x4 w/460, $300 OBO.
Just saw this in the local paper and the first thought i had was to replace my C6 to much work probably....

I just did this same thing. I had to purchase a core transmission from an auto wreckering co. $275.00 in Oregon. Make sure the core is from a 7.3 or 6.9.. I put a 6.9 in a 88 F-350 w/460 ZF 5 speed. I ran into clutch problems ( excessive growling ) had to get a LUK fly wheel and clutch kit $785.00 to deal with different cluches between 87 and 88. If you truck is 88 or newer, you won't need the kit. Swapping tranny housings is not to bad, you do have to pay attention though start with the front of the tranny down on 2x4 blocks standing straight up. Once you split the case you will be able to figure it out. And dont forget to remove the detents, or it won;t go back together. You can also take both tranny's to AMMCO $400.00. Sounds bad but it is well worth it. I love mine.....Reese
