What will latest reflash do for me?
I just had a reflash performed on my 04 FX4 5.4L. I brought the truck in for an oil change and also told the tech that I was getting what I believed to be poor gas mileage. I then asked them if they could check to see if there was a more recent reflash available for my F150. The tech stated that the reflash might help with the gas mileage and that there was a more current version out. So now that I have my truck back can anyone tell me what to expect from this latest update to my computer? Thanks
Could you be more specific? My 4.6 gets 17 mpg in my daily driving (half city, half highway). I haven't taken a long trip yet to check the highway mileage.
I think I'm doing pretty good, but if a flash will help, I might try it.

A specific example, my sister drives a slimilar size truck, from GM. She reports her driving as about 50/50 as do I.
BUT:
When my sister says her driving is local, she means steady, no stoplights, flat land, about five miles each way, speed about 40.
My local is at 3k feet, 10-30 stoplights or signs per 10 miles, speed bobbing between 0-50, up and down hills.
When I say freeway, I mean 4 or 5 lanes, many trucks, and staying with traffic, 75-85 mph. When she says freeway, she means 2 lane, 55, no crowding.
She lives in a similar community, about 40 miles from me. But her driving conditions are nothing like mine.
Who knows what yours are.
However, with the disclaimer stipulated, I gained about 1.5 maybe 2 miles per gallon local. Didn't signify on the open road.
These trucks, with their freewheeling torque-converters do great on flat freeway. If someone claimed 24 on the open road, I wouldn't call him a liar. My best is around 22, but heck, I run with traffic, not hug the slow lane.
On checking your mileage. Don't fill it everyday. Let it run down below half tank before you check it. Then fill it at the same pump, not just the same place. Then do the math.
My truck doesn't fill evenly, at least since my tank was replaced.
These things also get rotten mileage till they warm up. Makes me think of a stuck choke in the old days.
