Ignition actuator

My son has a 1990 Bronco automatic with tilt and cruise. The ignition actuator rod is bent and the pot metal key that connects to the rod appears to be broken. We've got the steering wheel off, the electrical guts out, the turn/tilt lever off and the upper bearing off but we can't figure out how to get to the actuator key (little pot metal broken piece). Do I need to remove the shift lever to drop the lower collar to access the back side of the upper ignition housing? Is there a secret handshake ( or special tool) necessary to remove the housing? I have done a search on this site and have read of needing to remove the tilt pivot pins but if this vehicle has one, the only hole I see that would correspond to this desciption is on the left at 9 o'clock and I don't see threads to insert a screw to "pop the cork".

On the sides of the "knuckle" or whatever it's called, there are hinge pins. You must remove these by threading a small screw into them then pull them out. Be careful of the large spring in there, it hurts when it flies out and hits your knee. After the pins are out the "knuckle" will drop down and you can remove the actuator.

I assume there are two hinge pins. If I am seeing a hinge pin Its only the left one as the housing for the ignition is obscurring what might be another on the right or I'm looking at the wrong thing

Got it

After removing the ignition there was a clip to remove a washer and gear benieth the ignition switch. This loosened up the upper housing considerably. Interesting enough the tilt pivot pins were out far enough that they had worn small circles into the inside of the upper housing acting to lock the housing in place. Tomorrow I will pull the tilt pivot pins (Now that I know what I'm looking for). The Key was an exploded diagram from the Ford dealer.
