I got an explorer and i have to feather the peddle sometimes to make it shift, The tranny isnt slipping or anything so im not sure if the tranny is going out. But if im in overdrive or drive i gotta feather the peddle to get it from gear to gear. Its becoming a real hassle and am scared im gonna get stranded sometime. If anyone can give me advice it would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to email me too. thanks everyone
I meant by feathering hitting the gas and letting off until it shifted, I wasnt sure of what the part is exactly called if anyone has any idea, And how much a shop or ford dealer might charge to fix it.Any ideas anyone
Is your Transmission fluid level OK? It could just be low. But then it could also be low because the modulator has ruptured and it's letting fluid be pulled into the vacuum lines. I think it's on the passenger side on the top of the transmission. See if you can find the line and trace it to the connection on the intake manifold (probably connected to the vacuum tree on the drivers side with all the other hoses). Pull the hose off and see if there's fluid in the line. If there's fluid it had to come through the modulator valve, and it's not supposed to do that.
