I am guessing here but when I did the swap on my 90 f-150 the dana 44 from the 78 bronco I got went in fairly easly. A dana 60 is far stronger then a dana 44 also. But if you are not running a huge tire a dana 44 will hold up great. I am running 38" tires on mine with 4.56 gears and stronger axles. In the summer I swap them out for 39.5 Boggers and I used it hard last summer at the mounds and it did not break anything. So I would not due it if your not using the truck for anything like this
Just my thoughts, but whats wrong with your dads truck??
Your dad's '96 F350 should have a Ford/Sterling 10.25" full-float rear axle and a Dana 60 high-pinion front axle. Both are very strong axles for a pickup . Stock gear ratios were 3.55 and 4.10.
Your '75 F250 4x4 has a narrower frame than your dad's truck, so axle swapping will mean repositioning the spring and shock mounts.
