In my search for a lower ratio rear for my '84 F150 I stopped at a local repair shop I do business with to see what he had. Turns out he has a whole truck that someone left there because they could not come up with the money to put a rear main seal and cultch in and later stopped by and just gave him the title. Well he gave it to me for free. Another '84 F150 300 six, motor sounds better that mine, but this one has an A trans code and an H8 axle code. The cabs actually in better shape than mine but the bed is pretty rusty. I think I'll just fix the rear seal and clutch in this one and swap beds. So is the A trans code the New Process with the granny gear? The H8 axle is what ratio?

Yup, trans code A is the good 'ol reliable granny gear NP 435, a very good combination with the 300 IMHO.
