Glow Plugs ??
Don't Glow plugs only help with starting ?? Like in cold weather ??Now I'll sound real dumb.....but if thats the case what makes the spark to fire the diesel ??
Maybe I need diesel 101 or something....
Quick answer: the piston compresses the air, which raises its temperature (see Physics 101!), to a level higher than the flash point of the fuel. Once the piston is at the top of its stroke with all the compressed, heated air, the fuel is injected into the cylinder as a mist where it burns as it hits the air.

Pretty interesting.
