Question Front Diff. on '99 4x4..

I believe I've read somewhere that the fluid weight is different between the front and read diff on my '99 F-250 sd 4x4..
Did I dream that or am I correct ??
And if so why ? I'm just curious but it would seem to me they do the same thing !

You are correct. The rear is 75w-140 synthetic and the front is 75w-90 dino. I assume it's because the front axle doesn't have to work nearly as hard...but knowing Ford, it's prolly so they could save a buck.

Hey Cookie88 thanks for the info on fog light mod!

I got to do rear alxe seals soon on mine, leaking. I think someone told me to add a bottle of ford friction modifier to it when I fill it. I jacked both rear tires off the ground and turned one, the other tire turned the same direction, question, if both tires turn same way is this limited slip? Also do you put any of this friction mod. in front diff?

No problem...

The front end has an open diff., so it does not need friction modifier. I personally do not use it in the rear differential either, I prefer to have a functioning limited slip.
