make sure that you just arent low on fluid. the fluid expands when it get warm.
if it is low it will slip and when it warms up it will stop. if thats not it the filter could be blocked up but i think you would have problem when it warmed up but it sure is easy enough to chech by dropping the pan.
When the engine is cold in the morning it slips, but when I drive it
a little no problem at all. checked the fluid and it's fine.
It doesen't matter reverse or drive.
When it does. it takes about one minuite to engage in ether
reverse or drive.
Also I have a pretty good oil leak about 1gt every 50 miles or so
and have put some Barrs oil additive in it and it slowed down some
but still leaks. Is there any of them that works to stop it.
I drove it into an oil change shop and we noticed that it was leaking
where the tranny bolts to the engine, I was told that some are easy
and some are not to replace
He said that some are a half seal and you don't need to pull the tranny.
and it takes about an hour, I have a 91 4.0 AWD
ya do need to pull tranny out to change oil seal. i had to do it on mine. be care full i had to do it twice as the new seals i got were out of spec and they leaked. the third was a charm. its sound like your tranny could be sludged up and ya might need to change fluid a few times to get it cleaned up.
its better with both wheels off the ground because everthing is nice and loose then.
now you can put the van in nutral and move the drive shaft and feel for looseness.
