It is possible that you have a turn signal bulb burned out. Do both front and back light up when you cut the signal on?
The one headlight that does not come on when you are in low beam has the low beam filament burned out and it will need to be replaced. It is a good idea to replace both headlight bulbs at the same time.
As for VA inspections, in my opinion it seems to vary a little from shop to shop as to what they actually do inspect. The major things they check are the brakes, tire wear, lights, exhaust, tie rod & ball joint play. But even the little things like the horn, windshield wipers , etc. should also be checked before getting it inspected. if you want the actual list as to what is on the inspection slip let me know and I will get it out of
my truck and list them for you.
Here is the list on the VA Inspection slip, beside each one there are little check boxes with the sections, OK - Adjust - Install - Remove. No real need to be alarmed at the length of the list because most of the items are just mainly a visual inspection.
I actually have the mechanic I go to now check everything on the list especially the ball joints and tie rods just to be safe.
Brakes
Headlights
Signal Lights
Other Lights
Steering
Suspension
Exhaust System
Fuel System
Tires
Hood Latch
Emission Control
Windshield
Windshield Wipers
Other Glass
Mirror
Doors
Seats
Seat Belt
Floor Pan
Defroster
Horn
I hope this helps.
Alan
