Fuel Pressure Check question
I drive a 2001 F-150 4.2L V6 with 72,000 miles, I'm the third owner, it was purchesed used out of Los Angles C.A. but the VIN traces back to Los Vegas N.V., I've installed a K&N air filter, Platnum 4 plugs, performance plug wires, new fuel filter @ 60,000 miles, and a new MAF. The MAF is clean.
My original post was for OBDII codes P0171 & P0174 Lean fuel to banks 1 & 2. I now have the Ford Technical Publications CD (excelent tool!) and I'm down to checking the fuel pressure, but I dont speak Ford that well! the next step in the testing is to conect fuel pressure gauge and "access output test mode" what are they talking about? and how do I do that? Do I need a different type of scan tool? The one I have just checks codes.
The Haynes manual tells me to check the pressure totaly different. I would think that the Ford pubs would be more accurate. Which method is better?
Thanks for any imput.
The normal way to check the pressure is just to hook up the gauge and start the engine so the pump stays running. That's the way I would do it.
