My gauge shows barely into the NORMAL range when just started, but once fully warmed up, it's below normal.
From what I've read, it could be the sender, the gauge, or the instrument voltage regulator.
What's the easiest way to isolate the problem?
Auto Zone only wants $8 for a new sender. I'm inclined to start there, it's easy to replace, I'd always have a spare sender.
What should I use as a thread sealer? I believe it has to ground out.
you can use teflon tape...the metal will still cut through enough to get good ground. I had a similar problem about 6 years ago...ended up the gauge was telling the truth, had bad main/cam bearings and a worn out oil pump.
It started this lower reading all of a sudden. I suspect if it was a weak oil pump, it would gradually get worse.
Either way, I bought the new sender, hope to install it today.
